Bespoke 3D Dimensional Enhancements for Living Stream Kids

Custom 3D Foam Wall Elements & Children’s Ministry Signage

Creating an environment for children demands a thoughtful balance of creativity, safety, and functionality. The space must feel energetic, welcoming, interactive, and completely secure for everyday use. As part of the larger Living Stream Church project, the 3D Sign Factory team was commissioned to develop custom dimensional decor for the Living Stream Kids registration area and surrounding hallways, combining playful visual elements with the clean modern architecture of the facility.

THE CHALLENGE

The project called for large-scale wall installations featuring colorful geometric compositions, dimensional branding elements, and integrated illuminated details. Several critical requirements guided the design and fabrication process:

Safety and Lightweight Construction

Although the decor needed to appear bold and substantial, every 3D component had to remain extremely lightweight. This minimized structural stress on the walls while ensuring maximum safety within a busy children’s environment.

Precision of Geometry and Color

The triangular wall panels required exact dimensional consistency and flawless alignment. In addition, all painted finishes had to accurately match the vibrant brand color palette.

Integrated LED Illumination

The project also required concealed mounting solutions for LED backlighting positioned behind dimensional letters and selected decorative elements to create a soft floating halo effect.

The 3D Sign Factory Art Design Solution

Engineering & CNC Fabrication

As shown in the production phase, high-density Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam was used as the structural core material for all decorative elements. Using precision CNC fabrication equipment, the team produced perfectly shaped geometric triangles with rounded child-safe beveled edges, dimensional lettering, and circular logo components.

EPS foam allowed the creation of thick, visually dynamic 3D elements while maintaining extremely low overall weight.

Protective Hard Coating & Custom Finishes

Because the installation was located in a high-traffic children’s area, all foam components were sealed with a durable hard coating designed to resist dents, scratches, and surface damage.

Each element was then professionally finished in rich matte colors carefully matched to the client’s established branding palette, including navy, light blue, pink, green, and yellow tones.

LED Integration & Installation

For the vertical “KIDS” signage and illuminated geometric accents, engineered recessed channels were built into the rear side of the pieces. This allowed LED strips and wiring to remain completely hidden during installation.

Once mounted, the illuminated elements produced a soft halo glow that added depth, contrast, and visual energy throughout the space.

Cohesive Architectural Styling (Faux Wood)

To visually connect the children’s ministry area with the main church interior, lightweight faux wood slat panels were incorporated into the overall design system.

These warm-textured architectural elements created a balanced contrast against the colorful geometric installations while maintaining visual continuity throughout the building.

The Result

The completed Living Stream Kids environment became vibrant, modern, highly photogenic, and exceptionally welcoming for children and families.

By utilizing lightweight 3D EPS foam fabrication, the client successfully achieved a complex multi-layered illuminated design while remaining within budget and maintaining a highly durable, child-safe interior environment.
